Welcome to the website home of the
         Prairie State Orchid Society

Centered around Springfield, Illinois, we are a group of orchid lovers who meet regularly to discuss, enjoy, learn about and indulge our passion for orchids. Our members include some experts, some fairly knowledgable growers, and some real novices to orchid care and growing.

What we all have in common is a love for these beautiful plants and a desire to share our enthusiasm.

We invite you to join us at our regular meetings at 7 p.m. on the third Friday of the month at Rochester Public Library, #1 Community Drive, Rochester. Our annual February show and sale will continue to be held at Springfield's Washington Park Botanical Garden in Springfield.

Celebrate the New Year at the PSOS meeting Friday, Jan. 20,
(Sorta, good time with your friends, but sans alcohol)

The program will feature a slide show on Masdevallias and Draculas (the nice kind), the species, hybrids and culture. There will also be committee meetings to plan for the February Show and Sale. Don't miss it. Someone may volunteer you for a committee that won't offer you the chance to work harder on the show.

Bring your blooming plants for Show and Tell.

Who will be the Big Winner this Year?

It's only a few weeks to the annual Prairie State Orchid Society Show and Sale at Springfield's Washington Park Botanical Gardens. The two-day event, February 11 & 12, is timed to allow you to get a beautiful orchid for your sweetheart or just for your own enjoyment. Plus it's a great time to see the best of orchids grown by members of the society.

Last year the Big Winner was . . . (trumpets sound in the background) . . . Ron Agge!!!. His beautiful Cattleya was judged not only tops in the category, but tops in the show. Plus, Ron took home another honor, the Cultural Award. How will he do this year?

Mark your calendar and plan to attend. More details to come.
