Welcome to the website home of the
      Prairie State Orchid Society

Centered around Springfield Illinois we are a group of orchid lovers who meet regularly to discuss, enjoy, learn about and indulge our passion for orchids. Our members include some experts some fairly knowledgeable growers, and some real novices to orchid care and growing.

What we all have in common is a love for these beautiful plants and a desire to share our enthusiasm.

We invite you to join us at our regular meetings at 7 p.m. on the third Friday of the month at Rochester Public Library, #1 Community Drive, Rochester. Our annual February show and sale will continue to be held at Springfield's Washing Park Botanical Garden in Springfield.

Friday, May 18 - Prairie State Orchid Society regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Rochester Public Library, #1 Community Drive, Rochester.

 Friday, June 15 - Prairie State Orchid Society regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Rochester Public Library, #1 Community Drive, Rochester.  Barry Jones, Orchid Outlet - 2011 Singaphore World Orchid Conference will give a Powerpoint presentation. Barry will be bringing minature plants for sale.

The Great 2012 PSOS Show & Sale

The weather was sunny but very cold for the annual Prairie State Orchid Society Show & Sale held at the Springfield's Washington Park Botanical Garden. Many lookers and buyers turned out to take advantage of the many beautiful orchids to take home for the Valentine's Day holiday.

   When it came to the show's best, the winner was Dewey Houser's beautiful Paphiopedilum rothschildianum X praestans.

   Congratulations to Dewey, with his winner at right, and all the other winners and participants in this year's annual PSOS Show.
